The Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum was founded in 1993 as the first museum for jewelry and decorative arts in Greece. It is a non -profit cultural organization certified by the Greek Ministries of Finance and of Culture and operates as an independent cultural organization with an emphasis on traditional crafts and in particular the art of fine and studio jewelry. In its 24 years of operation, the Museum has organized over 80 temporary exhibitions with decorative arts from international Museums and private collections. Educational Programs and activities have reached hundreds of thousands of Greek and foreign students, adults in affiliated or amateur groups and People with disabilities. The ILJM is the first museum in Greece designed for people with disabilities.
