About this activity
There is a lot to see in the Pashupatinath Temple. Main temple is built in the Nepalese pagoda style of architecture. All the features of pagoda style are found here like cubic constructions, beautifully carved wooden rafters on which they rest (Tundal). The two level roofs are of copper with gold covering. The temple resides on a square base platform with a height of 23m 7cm from base to pinnacle. It has four main doors, all covered with silver sheets. This temple has a gold pinnacle (Gajur). Two Garbhagrihas are outer and inner. The inner Garbhagriha or sanctum sanctorum is where the idol is placed and outer sanctum is an open corridor-like space.

Double roofed pagoda style temple has a gilded roof, four sides covered in silver and wood carvings of the finest quality. Cremation of Hindus take place on raised platforms along the river. The site and events at cremation is not for those who have weak heart; however the visitors are still seen curiously watching.

Experience this highly suggested religious centre for a mix of religious, cultural and spiritual experiences. Located 4 km northwest of Kathmandu on the banks of the Bagmati River, the temple area also includes Deupatan, Jaya Bageshori, Gaurighat (Holy Bath), and Kutumbahal, Gautama, Pingalasthan and Sleshmantak forest, where around 492 temples are, 15 Himalayas (shrines of Lord Shiva) and 12 Jyotirlinga (phallic shrines) to explore.
