Tours usually start heading south for 8 miles to wildlife viewing and upon returning to town, proceed 10 miles north of town to the totem pole parks.
Start off with a 20-25 minute tour of the highlights of Ketchikan, visit creek street, salmon ladder, harris bridge, city park, indian town and more. Then proceed for 8 miles on one of the most scenic drives in the Pacific Northwest stopping in several sites including mountain point, looking for the ideal picture spot.
20-30 minutes will be spent at herring Cove for seasonal wildlife sights.
Starting in June the Wildlife is very active and includes: Salmon, American Bald Eagles, Seals, Dear, Whales and Bears (more present in July-September).
At guides discretion, occasional visits to a waterfall may occur.
Enjoy a 20 minute drive back to town.
A 10 mile drive north of town will lead to the Potlatch Park and Totem Bight State Park. Spend 45-50 minutes in area, starting at the Totem Pole carving center learn and see totem pole carving stories and techniques, explore more than 30 totem poles, antique cars and weapons and at the end choose a self guided tour of the State Park or visit local gift and book shop.Snacks are included in Park.
The return trip will pass by the Ketchikan Pulp Mill which after serving half a century as a huge economic motor for southeast's logging industry, closed it's operations in 1997.
Guide will offer a couple of options for ending tour at cruise ship of conveniently located stops in downtown for optional walking and exploration thru town
*Occasionally the tours may be reversed depending on logistics and proceed North first, leaving the second half of the tour for wildlife sighting. Vehicles may vary between shuttles, buses or trolley but will be continuous once started.
