CAREY ISLAND is the home of the remnant Sea Gypsies Mah Meri tribe who lived on fishing and agriculture. The Mah Meri excel in wood carvings and hence are listed under UNESCO. Every year in March a festival in honor of their ancestors is held at the village.Rumah Moyang. It is believed that the door to the spiritual world opens and the villages ask for better fortunes, good health and protection from evil. A special Mah Meri Village Guide will take you on a walkabout tour of their village belting out facts and taboos of their customs, traditions and Rumah Moyang (Ancestral Home).

Stop At: Kuala Selangor Nature Park (Taman Alam Kuala Selangor), At the foot of Bukit Melawati Kuala Selangor Malaysia

The Silvered Leaf Monkeys are slender, intelligent and grey in color and live in social groups of 10, usually found in mangrove forests in Kuala Selangor. They feed on young leaves, shoots, fruits and nuts. Their infants are orange in color and turn silver after 3 months. Photo shoot session of the monkeys as they forage for food.

After frolicking with the Monkeys, adjourn to a nearby riverside restaurant for a sumptuous fresh seafood dinner. Free at leisure. Then catch a boat to watch fireflies in all their glory, flashing synchronously on mangrove trees like dazzling lights on a Christmas tree (silence to prevail !).

Kuala Selangor has the largest firefly colony in the world. Fireflies are Lightning Bugs as they shine brightly at nite to attract a suitable partner. They come out at dusk for feeding, resting and mating. They make love daily. Their synchronous flash is produced by a biochemical reaction in their light organs situated on their bottoms. A sight to behold ! The boat ride into the nite is exhilarating. Silence to prevail ! Return transfer to Kuala Lumpur arriving approx. 2100hrs.

ICONIC BATU CAVES Climb 272 steps into the temple of Hindu Deity Lord Subramaniam who is honored during Thaipusam every year. Devotees give thanks for vows fulfilled. Ladies to be properly attired to enter the temple - knees and shoulders to be covered.
