Named after Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, Putrajaya is the administrative centre of the nation, where the main governmental complexes are located. The principle landscape is the 600-hectre man-made lake, The Putrajaya Wetland. Native wetland plants from over 50 local species are propagated here.
Architecturally, Putrajaya is an indigenous city with a modern look. Planned to the minutest detail, this intelligent garden city is devoted to lush greenery and water bodies with 13 different gardens and parks.
Places of visit / photo stops include:
• Agricultural Heritage Park - a living museum of agricultural specimens; demonstration of rubber tapping and the process of rubber manufacturing.
• Perdana Putra - The Prime Minister’s Office Complex.
• Putra Mosque - Incorporating Islamic architecture from Turkestan, Kazakhstan and Morocco.
• Putra Bridge - Part of the protocol route and built across Putrajaya Lake.
• Putra Square - Formed with a combination of 11, 13 and 14 star shapes that represent the development of Malaysia.
• Seri Perdana - The official residence of present and future Prime Ministers of Malaysia.
