About this activity
After hotel pickup in Kuching, head to Sarawak Cultural Village, located about 22 miles (35 km) north of the city. This unique Living Museum provides an immersive experience so you can observe and study the cultures of different Sarawak tribes.

On arrival, explore the seven authentic replicas of ethnic houses: Chinese Farm House, Malay Stilted House, Melanau Tall House, Penan Hut, and the Longhouse of the Iban, Bidayuh, and Orang Ulu. In each house, see many artifacts from the corresponding tribal group.

Village residents like to share their various traditional cultures and lifestyles. When you're in the Iban longhouse, which has separate rooms side by side open to a long communal hall, you can see residents demonstrating tribal activities like basket weaving with pua and straw, wood, and bamboo carvings. Depending on the time of day, guests are often invited to attend ceremonies, where drinks such as rice wine and tuak are served.

Comfortable guesthouses are also available for visitors. The dance show in the performance hall is always a highlight, and the village hosts the Rainforest World Music Festival every July.

When your time at the village is up, you'll be returned to Kuching for drop-off.
