About this activity
Do you want to know more about Kyoto’s geisha world? How about meeting a young apprentice while she performs a dance show for you? The old districts of Kyoto are filled with secrets that can be difficult to comprehend for visitors. In fact, the vast majority of Japanese people themselves don’t know what’s happening behind the closed doors of so-called tea houses.

To quench your thirst for knowledge, we have prepared a 2 hours guided walking tour of the geisha quarters of Kyoto followed by a geisha dance show. You will be accompanied by a local insiders who knows every nook and cranny of the city. He will show you the places that a geisha goes to every day: where she learns how to dance, where she buys her musical instruments, where she shops for props and traditional wooden shoes and so on.

To top it all up, you’ll have access to a local theater where a geisha apprentice will perform dance shows and tea ceremony for locals and visitors. Cheery on top, you will be able to to talk to her and ask her how she feels about her artist life thanks to English/Japanese speaking staff. Why not get a selfie for a souvenir?
