About this activity
Day 1You'll arrive at Mano a Mano in the late afternoon, just in time for a video presentation on the local surroundings, the restaurant, and the association. This short film will introduce you to all of Mano a Mano's community projects and help you better understand what drives the institution. After, you'll sit down for a tasty dinner at our all women-run solidarity restaurant before spending the night in the association's dormitory. Day 2Rise and shine! You'll depart for the huge Unicachi market around 7:30 AM, accompanied by a woman from the Mano a Mano team. Discover one of Lima's largest markets and aid your guide in her weekly shopping (Please note: market visit is only available on Wednesdays). At noon, you'll return to the association for a traditional Peruvian lunch. After your meal, it's your turn to lend a hand in the kitchen! Sort, peel, and chop the foods you purchased that morning, and help the women at the restaurant with their daily tasks. Participate in a pasty class and hone your baking skills. Be curious! Feel free to ask as many questions as you want about food, Peru, and Peruvians in general! You'll travel back to Lima around 4:30 pm that afternoon.
