About this activity
Located on Lisbon’s highest hill, with an intoxicating view of the city, the São Jorge Castle invites us to take a trip back in time, where all the stones speak, telling us Lisbon’s story.

The ruined Carmo Convent is one of Lisbon's most hauntingly beautiful sights. It stands as a reminder of the devastating 1755 earthquake that destroyed most of the city, although the Gothic architecture dates back to the 14th century. An archaeological museum is housed in the old altar and has an eclectic collection of treasures that include eerie South American mummies. Across from the convent is a monumental drinking fountain, dating from the late 1700s.
