About this activity
This is a "Hop-on Hop off" private tour. We pick you up at the meeting location (any point in Lisbon Area), and start our tour in Évora. Whit a lovely tranquil stroll, heading to the light-dappled public gardens. The old city is surrounded by medieval walls, giving it a unique characteristic that set this museum-city apart from others.
One of this city most popular sights is one of the most chilling chapel with the interiors decorated using human bones. The walls and columns are lined with the bones and skulls of some 5000 people. One of the strangest sights of Portugal and certainly not for the faint hearted.
In the middle of Évora, the remains of a roman temple, dating from the 2nd or early 3rd century, are a heady slice of drama. Its one of the best preserved evidence of the Roman empire in Portugal.
Poking around town, you will find some of the oldest and fabulous churches, fortress-like medieval cathedrals, and museums jam.packed with ecclesiastical treasures.
A landmark in Évora is 8,5 km roman Aqueduct, starting from outside town. At the end of the aqueduct, the neighborhood seems like a self-contained village, with houses, shops and cafes builted right into the arches.
The Giraldo Plaza is the place for a relaxing drink or to sample fine food and wine once the sun sets. This plaza is better known to be the main inquisitorial court during the Spanish inquisition and scenario of numerous protests and rebellions during the early formation of Portugal.
The Évora Cathedral is located in the center of the city and is located on the highest point in town, offering a prime view from the top. Climb the tallest tower and experience a panoramic view of Évora. Visitors can walk along the roof and take in the beautiful surrounding landscape.
We will take you to one of the oldest and best-known restaurants in the region that serves up typical Portuguese cuisine, and arrange a wine tasting in world known wineries in the region.
The tour concludes with the drop-off at the meeting location in Lisbon.
Please be advised that the car ride to and back from Évora is a 4 hour trip and it is included in the tour duration.
If you do wish to stay longer, we charge an additional fee per extra hour.
