About this activity
Lake Bled is often mentioned as the pearl of the Slovenian Alpine region. With its emerald-green waters, picture-perfect church on an island in the lake, a medieval castle on the rocky cliffs surrounding the lake, and some of the highest peaks of the Slovenian Alps as the background, lake Bled is a must see. Perched atop a steep cliff more than 100m above the lake, Bled Castle is a picturesque medieval fortress with towers, ramparts, moats and a terrace offering magnificent views. The castle houses a unique treasure - a reconstructed Gutenberg printing press on which the master printer will demonstrate old printing techniques using hand-made paper. You will be able to ride a traditional pletna boat to the island in the middle of lake Bled and explore the baroque style island Church of the Assumption, which was built in the 17th century. Also on the island there is a 15th century belfry that contains a wishing bell. Pull the rope and ring the bell three times to make your wish come true. On the way back from Lake Bled stop at the local patisserie and taste kremsnita, Bled's famous cream cake.
