About this activity
In 1986 The Skocjan Caves were added to UNESCO's list of natural and cultural world heritage sites. The river Reka runs through the caves and creates a spectacular canyon. The Skocjan Caves consist of eleven caves. The caves are known for their size, with a maximum height of 146m and width of 120m. Within the caves you can find a colorful mix of enormous stalactites, collapsed ravines, river canyons, natural bridges and limestone pools. One can stand on a natural bridge over the Reka river and watch as the river drops to the bottom of the Great Valley, which is 160 meters deep. Next, we will travel to the Stud Farm of Lipica. White horses known as Lipizzaners have been bred at Lipica farm for more than 400 years. The adult Lipizzaner is characteristically white, but the foals are brown, reddish or grey. The Lipizzaners turn white at age six to ten. After watching the magnificent Lipizzaners perform, enjoy a lovely carriage ride through the property. Visits can view mares and foals roaming in the pasture.
