Why Watch The Inheritance II

Winning two Tony Awards and two Olivier Awards, Stephen Daldry is one of the most celebrated directors today. He has dabbled in big-screen films like ‘The Reader’, small-screen works like ‘The Crown’, and excellent plays like ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘An Inspector Calls’. With such an accomplished director leading the dynamic cast of actors, it comes as no surprise that The Inheritance is a resounding success. The storytelling brings a fresh romantic, humorous, and sometimes heartbreaking flavour to the stage. The story comes to a fitting conclusion in this captivating performance.

The Story

The Inheritance 2 continues the story of Toby’s volatile and rapidly disintegrating character. Toby cannot bring himself to accept the fact that his lover, Eric, is beyond his reach. In a society that was rarely ever accepting of the gay community, Toby finds it hard to make friends or find help outside. This results in him indulging in excessive alcohol and drugs. Toby is the character the author created to tell the world about the problems of being gay. The group of young gay men who appear in the first scene of The Inheritance 1 make successive appearances in the second part, more determined than ever to succeed. What does it mean to inherit the will and purpose of those who came before us? A deeply moving story, The Inheritance 2 is a must-watch.
