On the Trail of Jack the Ripper: Whitechapel and Spitalfields Murder Tour

About this activity

We meet in the heart of Whitechapel and walk you back into 19th century London, when the neighborhood was one of the continent’s bleakest ghettos, as you pick up the trail of a serial killer. Snaking through narrow, Victorian alleys and past Spitalfields Market, pubs where the Ripper’s victims drank, and the old workhouses where they toiled away their days, we’ll visit each of the five sights, in chronological order, where Jack the Ripper left his victims and discuss both the women who lost their lives and the theories behind who was responsible for their murders. Since the neighborhood bears much of the feel of 19th-century London, we’ll immerse you in the atmosphere of that era of extremes and the hysteria that surrounded the killings. In the end, we’ll ask you to come to your own conclusions about the murderer’s identity so put your detective hat on and see if you can follow the clues.
