About this activity
Ever wished you could look through a window and see into the 18th century? Head to The Household Cavalry Museum and you can do just that. Learn about the troopers’ training, see amazing rare objects and witness the Queen’s Life Guard - a ceremony that's stayed the same for 350 years!
You can't get more British than this! Here's your chance to learn the history and mission of the Household Cavalry, the highest rank in the British Army, formed in 1661 under the direct order of King Charles II!
Dating from the 1700, Whitehall's famous Horse Guards Building is home to the Household Cavalry Museum where you can see the real troopers working with horses. Witness the rigorous training undertaken by Queen's guards, take part in educational interactive displays and see rare objects that have never before been on public display.
This is also a great place to see the changing of the guard without the crowds at Buckingham Palace - they do it right in front of the museum. Will you be the one to make the serious man laugh?
