About this activity
Take the chance to know the Christian Egypt from its beginning and its people's defence against the pagan Romans. So , you will visit the oldest church in the world (The Hanging church – Abu Serga church – Saint Barbra church – Abo Sivin church – Mary Gerges church ).
At 7a.m. we will gather together at the hotel to attend the godly mass at the Hanging church. It was named like this as it was built on two of the old towers in the Roman fort. It is considered one of the most important Egyptian Coptic monuments. It is located in old Egypt. Then, you will move in a conditioned car with the guide to Abu Serga church which was erected in the place,which is thought that the saint family stayed in on their journey in Egypt. After that, you will move to Saint Barbra church which is situated near the street of the Jewish Temple. It is below the earth level of about 40 CM . You can reach it by stepping down a stone stair. Then, we will move to Abu Sivin church which is located in the street of Amr Ibn El AS. It is considered one of the monumental churches in this area. It has great importance,so it has been taken as a headquarters for Alexandria popes .Next, you will go to Marry Gerges church which was a short time ago as an entertainment for the parriarchal popes. Many monks stayed there and Bakhemis El Beheira Bishop was one of them. After that we will visit the biggest cathedral in Egypt . Then, you will go back to the hotel at sunset.
