About this activity
We’ll depart from Madrid at 9 am and will arrive after two hours at a viewpoint hanging over a deep gorge and river valley close to our first destination. After this spectacular photo opportunity, it’s just a few minutes drives to Ciudad Encantada, an amazing karst rock landscape that began to form over 90 million years ago. On our hike, through that fascinating landscape, we observe the finest examples of this kind of surreal rock formation. Resembling giant mushrooms, docking ships or kissing lovers, this park is as magical as only nature could create it. After a walk of about 90 minutes, we’ll return to our comfortable touring van and drive to the nearby beautiful city of Cuenca. From a cliff overlooking the old town below us, we'll take some great pictures, and then head to lunch. Located in one of the older houses built right onto one of the gorges we’ll enjoy a tasty 3-course meal and wine. In the afternoon we’ll take our time to explore the colorful old quarter of Cuenca, see its’ famous “hanging houses”, and enjoy the scenic panorama from the bridge below.
