About this activity
Head to central Marrakech’s vibrant Djemaa el-Fna district in the early afternoon and meet your private guide. Then, set off on foot into the busy souks of the medina to begin your tour.

Stroll through the bustling streets and visit at least five different artisan stalls along the way. With help from your private guide, practice your French or Arabic with local tradespeople and sharpen your bartering skills to bag a few bargains.

Perhaps head to a local jeweler and browse beadwork and silverware from across Morocco. Visit a leather ware shop where hand-crafted slippers, bags and jackets are on sale, or browse the range of beautiful rugs — and enjoy fixed-price shopping and a discount with your guide — at a carpet seller’s shop.

Admire caftans and silk scarves in ladies’ fashion outlets, and visit a lamp shop with a wide selection of attractive table and floor lamps. Other shops and stalls to visit include a herbalist selling traditional argan oils, herbs and spices, and home stores offering kitchen ware and furniture.

During your shopping trip, stop off to visit street workshops where talented artisans demonstrate their skills. See a master potter mould a lump of clay into an attractive bowl, or a tile maker at work, then finish your tour with afternoon tea at a cafe in the Dar el-Bacha district.

Please note: Your tour includes free delivery of large items to your hotel or riad in Marrakech.

  • Morocco is considered by many to be a liberal Muslim country. For example, many Moroccan women do not wear headscarves, but you may still find that Morocco is very conservative compared to what you’re used to at home. Therefore, please dress accordingly. As a general guideline, your shoulders, chest, and knees should be covered at all times. Wearing shorts (for both men and women) or low-cut tops, or showing your midriff, is not recommended. Lightweight, sleeved shirts, trousers, and skirts are respectful and will keep you cool in the heat.
