Douar Oulad Elguern village, on the Marrakech Plain, 45 minutes from Marrakech. On arrival you immediately engage with most welcoming people. Spending a day with the villagers is a joyous experience and privilege. From the welcoming salon tea on arrival, the genuine friendliness and gentleness of the villagers is instantly tangible.

From then on, everyone becomes involved with the villagers in their daily activities:

fetching water from the well; making earth bricks; making charcoal; making bread; cooking the couscous and the tagines; etc.

Through active participation, a great understanding of this lifestyle is gained. The interaction with the villagers is informal and is a wonderful opportunity to engage with a real lifestyle, involving hard work, but one offering many rewards. This is a sustainable community where honesty and joint endeavour creates a vibrant community.

After a splendid lunch, eaten traditionally (which you will have helped to prepare), the afternoon is spent around the village and its environs, guided by some villagers. The local shop, the miller, the livestock, the artisanal workshops can all be visited; you are at all times encouraged to ask questions.
