About this activity

Meet your guide at the Old Port (Vieux Port) in central Marseille, and set out on a walking tour of the city’s historic heart. passing by the medieval monuments and historic buildings of Le Panier, the city’s oldest neighborhood, as you hear stories of Marseille through the centuries. Learn about the city’s Greek and Roman roots, the Renaissance era, and the years of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution.

After two and a half hours exploring the city’s historic center, you’ll have some time to enjoy a good and tasty Mediterranean lunch (NOT INCLUDED).

Once you’ve recharged your batteries, we are going to take a bus to get up to Notre Dame de la Garde, Marseille’s main church renewed in the nineteenth century from where you’ll enjoy one of the best views over the whole city since we’ll be more than 150 meters up. Walking down from there, we’ll talk about the second world war which marked the city, before passing by Pierre Puget’s park to end our tour in front of Saint Victor’s abbey, a very important building of Marseille's Christianity.

Perfect timing if you're coming in a cruise ship! because we'll be finishing the tour at around 15:30 - 16:00 hs.
