About this activity
Meet us on the Place La Joliette right in front of the HSBC bank (the guide will be there with a light blue umbrella) to start our tour during which we’ll get to see Marseille from both angles, the new and the old Marseille.

Starting at La Joliette will let us see and understand how the city decided, in 2013, to change and reorganised some of its neighbourhoods and buildings such as Les Docks, Le Silo, Marseille’s seaside, the CMA CGM and « La Marseillaise » towers, the Villa Mediterrannée and the new icon of Marseille, the MUCEM (museum about European civilisations and the Mediterranean sea).

From the meeting point we’ll walk along the sea before entering Le Panier neighbourhood, the oldest one in Marseille and in France ! We’ll pass by Marseille’s cathedral built in the 19th century, then your guide will lead you through the narrow and picturesque streets entirely painted by local artists. Inside this beautiful neighbourhood we’ll see, among others, La Vilelle Charité, La Place des Moulins, we’ll talk about the foundation of Marseille and it 2.600 years of existence.

Once at la Place de Lenche, you will have the chance of getting in touch with the local culture thanks to a delightful Navettes and chocolate tasting…two typical products Made in Marseille.

To end this tour, we’ll walk around Saint Laurent church, one of the oldest ones in the city and, standing there, with a great view over the Old Port and the Mucem, your guide will answer all your questions and give you precious tips about what to do the with the rest of your stay.
