About this activity
Melbourne’s first suburb has more restaurants, bars and live music venues per capita than any suburb in the city. But despite its recent trappings of wealth, Fitzroy has a haunted past, and a history marked by extreme poverty and racial prejudice.

We start by meeting guests at St Patricks Cathedral at the edge of Fitzroy for a quick get-to-know you. The tour begins with a short background about the founding of Fitzroy, and a tale about Melbourne's original man-about-town - and a very special gargoyle.

Walking north through Fitzroy, we discuss saints, sinners and workers' rights before arriving at our first bar - an authentic corner pub - for a quick libation. We then depart for stories of Fitzroy's slum past and live music scene before arriving at our second bar, a newly renovated rock bar and one of Fitzroy's coolest locations.

Turning south back towards Gertrude Street, we uncover some of the suburb's best hidden street art murals, before arriving at our third and final bar (a brilliant cocktail bar) for dinner. After dinner, guests are welcome to stay at our final bar at their leisure.
