Sanctuary of the Fireflies

We take a tour visiting the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Tlaxcala, considered today one of the oldest and most beautiful for being unique in its kind to have its separate bell tower of the monastery complex and keep inside a coffered ceiling Moorish style. Also we will take a panoramic tour visiting “Casa del Ayuntamiento”, “portals”, “Government palace” and we will descend at the Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan where legend says that the Virgin of Ocotlan's appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino to provide miraculous water which would cure the sick and eliminate the epidemic of this place. (If there is a chance we enter to the Basilica, subject to availability). Free time to buy handicrafts or food. By night we will venture through a walk of about 2 hours to the magical forest Nanacamilpa where each year an incredible natural phenomenon presents in which thousands of fireflies makes night dark on a light show. Each year, the fireflies visit the municipalities of Nanacamilpa to reproduce through this area of over 200 hectares offers ideal conditions of moisture and food for fireflies.
