If you do like rum even mildly, the Appleton Estate Rum Tour is a must do. You will then enjoy a DVD presentation of the rum-making processes before heading outside for the Walking tour including a visit to the Distillery and Ageing House. After the refreshments, a DVD presentation of the rum-making process will be offered. At the start of the tour, visitors are given a briefing about the history of the factory and the process of making rum. The traditional process which is still followed today, visitors will also get a demonstration of the traditional process of extraction of the sugar cane juice, which is later fermented into the end product..RUM!! The rum aging process varies according to the blend sought, at the Appleton Estate they do have rums that are aged for thirty years and beyond. In fact, on display, there is a bottle of rum that is aged for 50 years and is selling for a whopping $5000 USD. At the end of the Appleton Estate Rum Tour of the factory, the fun time begins at the bar. Everyone enjoys the trip to the tavern where visitors get the opportunity to try all 16 varieties of rum produced at Appleton Estate Rum Factory. You can enjoy a traditional Jamaican lunch and even take a bottle home with you as a souvenir.
