• Keeping families together is the overriding objective of everything that One Horizon tries to do. And a program of introducing Kenyan grandmas to pig farming is to enable them to have a sustainable income to enable them to support their families. Unfortunately grinding poverty has contributed to over 2.4 million orphans in KENYA
• This program is a rare opportunity for travellers to get involved in keeping family units intact. The highlight of the day is life-changing moment, when you give a grandma the piglet and feed that you fees have paid for The emotion is tangible and, as the day unfolds, you’ll come to understand why so many other grandmas have come along to share the joy of your visit.
• In Kenya grandmas often take on the responsibility of caring for their orphaned grandchildren and your involvement in this tour! will give you real insights into how grandmas struggle to care for their extended families – sometimes up to 20 family members living in grandma’s one-room corrugated iron home.
