About this activity
This morning, a chauffeur driven car will pick you from your city hotel. On your half day tour, meet a volunteer, trained under the guidance of Aga Khan Trust for Culture, renowned for its work for cultural heritage and community development. Listen to the conservation stories of the Humayun’s tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the first great example of a new distinctive style of architecture, which developed to become the hallmark of the Mughal Dynasty. Continue to Sunder Nursery, adjoining the tomb complex, it is a heritage park home to more than 280 species of trees from tropical and southern India, 54 species of birds and 28 varieties of butterflies. The park is meticulously restored with labyrinthine water channels along the stoned pathways that lead up-to the water pools surrounded by heritage sites. Learn about the conservation work and development of community from your accompanying volunteer as you proceed to take a walk through the narrow lanes of Nizamuddin passing by the historical structures related to Sufi saints, poetry and literature. End the tour with a visit to the holy shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin as you cross vibrant stalls selling flowers and offerings for the shrine. Following the tour, you will be dropped back to your city hotel.
