About this activity
Embark on ‘The Walk’, a guided walking tour of the New Delhi Railway Station and Paharganj area. This tour gives visitors a unique perspective of city life and raises awareness of India’s street children. ‘The Walk’ is unique in that the guides themselves were marginalized children who've experienced the street life and survived, teaching you about daily life, the plight of street children, and their own personal survival story. This two hour walking tour will take you to one of Salaam Baalak Trust’s contact points and one shelter home. Walk down narrow side streets along the pottery market and old ‘havelis’, traditional townhouses, to the Salaam Baalak head office. Learn about the organization’s efforts to provide education, healthcare, and vocational training in order to break down the barriers of opportunity. The tour wraps up around the Main Bazaar in Paharanj, close to the railway station.
