About this activity
We start at 9:30 am from the meeting point, Digamber Jain Lal Temple, opp. the main entrance of the Red Fort. You will be briefed about the history of the seven cities of Delhi, Old Delhi, Emperors and their Harem, Mutiny of 1857, India's independence, religions etc. To visualize the beauty of the bygone days, the trained guide gives an accurate description of the sights, along with rare pictures and sketches. A detailed description is given about the Red Fort, the Jain Temple, Chandni Chowk Street and the Birds Hospital. You will be given wireless audio headset with the help of which they can clearly listen to the live commentary given by the guide.

We will ride by the narrow by-lanes to see the vibrant bazaars and colorful shops. It is a visual delight to see the shops selling wedding accessories, glittering borders, bangles, jewelry, bridal outfits, turbans, crystal boxes etc. After seeing the hustle and bustle of the bazaars, we go inside the narrower and quiet residential streets to understand the culture, lifestyle and the living traditions of the old Delhi residents. It is interesting to see the intricately carved facades of the old houses, the ethnically dressed men & women and the small neighborhood shops on the way.

Old Delhi is a maze and there are many beautiful ancient temples hidden mysteriously in its different corners. We will be visiting some of these temples to see the extremely intricate work done on their walls and ceilings with gold, silver and glass. You will be seeing the bejeweled statues of the different gods and goddesses and you will be explained about the rituals and practices. We will be going inside some old Havelis and you will be amazed to see how some of these havelis are being used today by the local craftsmen. We will also be seeing some warehouses of spices, marigold flowers, wedding cards, bridal outfits etc.

We also stop to sample the most popular foods like Jalebis (lovingly called the celebration sweet of India) and Poori/Kachoris ( a spicy snack made with flour with a filling of lentils and served with potato curry).

To make the experience more holistic, a book which has been specially drafted with the help of experts in the field of Indian history, is given to each guest. You will be free to interact with the guide and ask him any questions you have. At the end of the tour, our guide will help you locate your driver or find a cab, tuk tuk, metro station.
