About this activity

We offers you the unique opportunity to visit the charming Old Delhi on a half-day tour. Meet your private guide in your hotel lobby and drive to the mystical lanes of "Purani Dilli", as the locals call it. We first head to the final resting place of Mahatma Gandhi, The Raj Ghat. Located on the west bank of the Yamuna River, Raj Ghat pays homage to Gandhiji. Beautiful fountains and exotic trees surround the Samadhi on which the Mahatma's final words, "Hey Ram" are inscribed. We then head to one of the most magnificent creations of the Mughal dynasty, the iconic 'Lal Qila' or Red fort. Originally built in white, like the Taj Mahal, and named 'Qila-e-Mubarak', the Red Fort was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The fort derived its new name after it was painted red by the British when the white sand began chipping off. See the fairytale-esque buildings like the Diwan-i-Khaas and Rang Mahal within the fort's enclosure. After this, we enjoy a cycle-rickshaw ride through Old Delhi's narrow lanes to visit the colourful markets. We halt to admire the magnificence of the largest mosque in India, the Jama Masjid, where 85,000 devotees can offer prayers at the same time. Commissioned by Shah Jahan, the Jama Masjid was built over a period of 6 years with 5000 labourers at work. After marvelling at two of Shah Jahan's most splendid contributions to Delhi, we head back to your hotel where your tour concludes.
