Pass By: Railway Station New Delhi Paharganj Platform 1, 24, Paharganj Road, Sidarth Basti, Aram Bagh, Paharganj, New Delhi, Delhi 110055, India
At 5:15am, meet your driver at your hotel or airport in Delhi then transfer to New Delhi Railway Station.
Upon arrival, board your super-fast train to Agra. On the Shatabadi Express (Train No. 12002), breakfast is served on board. Relax and enjoy the countryside sights during your 2-hour journey.
Upon arrival at the railway station in Agra, you are met by your representative at the main exit gate who will be holding a sign with your name on it. Board your private car and make a stop at a four- or five-star hotel for a refreshment, to freshen up, and meet your tour guide.
Begin the tour with a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage site (closed on Fridays). The world's best-known tomb stands in testimony to the timeless love story of the 17th-century Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, and his queen Mumtaz Mahal.
Next, make your way and visit another UNESCO World Heritage site, Agra Fort. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D., this huge fort is made of red sandstone. Walk through the maze of the courtyards, mosques, and private chambers, which echo the story of the Mughal Empire.
In the early afternoon, take a break for lunch at a local air-conditioned restaurants (meal included).
Optional excursion: Afterward, depart for Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage site, about an hour away. Fatehpur Sikri has been described as 'the world’s most perfectly preserved ghost town'. Built by Akbar in the late 16th century, it was abandoned after only 14 years and the elegant buildings of this superb walled city remain intact to this day.
You have the option to enjoy shopping in the early evening in Agra. The city is known for its handicrafts made of marble and softstone inlay work. The Mughals were great patrons of the arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan took personal interest in them and was an accomplished artist herself in zari embroidery work. Agra's major handicraft products besides inlay work are leather-ware, brass-ware, carpets, jewelry, and embroidery.
In the mid-evening, transfer to the railway station in Agra. Your train departs around 9:30pm and dinner is served aboard.
Around 11:40pm, your train arrives at New Delhi Railway Station, where you will be met by your driver. Your private car drops you off back at your hotel.
