About this activity
Medieval rulers of Delhi built lovely garden tombs for their deads (sometimes for themselves in their lifetime) and, as a result, Delhi is full of these great ‘garden tombs’. In this experience you will be taken to explore 3 of the most beautiful of these gardens. You will be first driven to Safdarjung Tomb. Built in sandstone and marble in 1754, this mausoleum has an ambiance of spaciousness and an imposing presence with its domed and arched red brown and white colored structures. Continue to Humayun's Tomb – a magnificent Mughal building built in 1565-66 and set in a square enclosed garden. This amazing red sandstone and marble structure somewhat resembles the Taj Mahal. Finally you will be taken to Lodi Gardens. Spread over 90 acres, Lodi Gardens contain a large number of toms of Lodi rulers of the 15th and 16th centuries.
