The neighbourhood is known for its marvelous examples of Greek Revival and Italianate architecture. It was once part of the plantation owned by Bienville, the founder of New Orleans. See the homes of the premier family of football - the Mannings, the former residence of celebrated author Anne Rice, as well as the house where Jefferson Davis died in 1889. Tour the interior of the Opera Guild Home, built in 1865. Visit Lafayette Cemetery, and learn about the unusual above-ground burial system. The walk includes a short stop for refreshments.
