About this activity
A visit to the 9/11 Tribute Museum reveals the ways in which the events of September 11th 2001 changed lives - especially of first responders, survivors and family members of those lost in the tragedy. A project of the September 11th Families' Association, the 9/11 Tribute Museum serves as a testament to the perseverance of the human spirit.
Witness never-before-seen video and recovered artifacts from Ground Zero up close, juxtaposed with emotional recollections and testimonies from survivors. You'll also learn about the unprecedented rescue and recovery operations as well as the ongoing rebuilding of communities.
The Museum also provides a space for firefighters, police officers, survivors and family members to share their personal accounts of these life-changing events.
If this all sounds impossibly heavy, it is indeed a lot to absorb. However, the experience travels from darkness to light. The exhibitions begin with the history of Lower Manhattan, then move through the events of 9/11, the rescue and recovery, and finish with a tribute of remembrance that speaks volumes of the tremendous depth of our humanity.
