We'll walk the length of the East Village, seeing and discussing historical, cultural and political sites, such as where poets lived, where punk rockers rocked, where the Dutch colonizers lived, where radicals demonstrated and published their tracts, where hippies congregated -- and much more. We begin with an orientation to the origins of the neighborhood and then take a one and one-half hour walk through the parks and the heart of the neighborhood, ending at Washington Square Park, where are there are many great restaurants and other places of interest that you can go on to enjoy on your own.
