Itinerary

My home base for flats fishing, Maunalua bay in Hawaii Kai, is a ten minute drive from where I grew up and is home to a variety of fun light tackle game fish. Bone fish (oio), jack trevally (papio), goatfish (weke), barracuda (kaku) and snapper (to'au) are amongst the hard fighting and fun species you could expect to get connected to.

As a truly local experience our main means of fishing is wading on foot in sandy reefs to get to channels or pockets of water that hold fish. I use a floating fishing platform to keep personal objects dry and provide storage for our cooler and tackle. We do not use a motorized boat or kayak. On average you can expect to walk between 100 - 250 yards a trip.

Our fishing is entirely using light tackle spinning gear, we do not do fly fishing. We are using bait as a means of fishing as it allows anglers of all skill levels to participate in the entire process.

Time of departure is dependent on tides as we are walking out on the reef in water. Once you book we will communicate as to the time that works best, high and low tide changes every day here in Hawaii!
