About this activity
Pick-up from your Ocho Rios hotel is between 7:00 and 7:30. This Full-day, guided bus and walking tour focuses on Kingston's history, culture, architecture, and food. From rich to poor, hillsides to waterfronts, residential to commercial areas, get a broad overview of Jamaica's vibrant capital city.
The first stop is the University of the West Indies, a beautiful campus with ruins from the plantation era. Next, head towards downtown Kingston, stopping at a photogenic viewpoint to take in the vast expanse of the city. Continue on to National Heroes Park, a botanic garden filled with artistic monuments, significant gravesites, and vast grounds. The park offers a lovely backdrop to learn about the rebellious history of Jamaica, and gives you an opportunity to see the local military change of guards.
In downtown Kingston, stop at the largest market on the island, with vendors selling everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, to prepared foods and clothing. Then it's on to Trench Town, the famous neighborhood where Bob Marley once lived; widely considered to be the birthplace of reggae music. The tour finishes at the beautiful grounds of Devon House, an 18th century mansion, where you can sample locally made ice cream. At the end of the tour you will be dropped off at your hotel at around 4:00 pm.
