About this activity
Known as a Florida Blackwater River because of the tanin that comes from the forests, Econlockhatchee has been a main source of outdoor adventure for locals since the early 1900s. The black waters are unique to the area and make for amazing photo opportunities, especially when the sun and clouds reflect off its surface.

As you paddle, your guide points out the area’s unique vegetation, wildlife, and provides details on the Seminole Indians who used to inhabit the area.

You’ll also have an opportunity to spot local wildlife, such as sunbathing alligators, turtles, hawks, bald eagles and deer are also native to the forest.
