About this activity

Get the most of contemporary and modern art taking this 2-hour guided tour of the Centre Pompidou with an expert guide. In the very heart of Paris stands the Centre Pompidou, an imposing building made of iron and glass and wrapped in colored tubes, elevators and escalators. Built by the architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers and inaugurated in 1977, this industrial construction has been seriously controversed before becoming one of the symbols of Paris.

You'll discover the history of both the inside and the outside of the building: a vast public library, a research acoustics and music institute, the Stravinsky fountain, numerous cinemas, photo gallery, various exhibitions spaces and the atelier of the sculptor Constantin Brancusi. Your guide will bring you to the top of the building for a breathtaking view of Paris and from there we will start a journey through the great historical avant-gardes of the twentieth century. The second part of the tour is dedicated to the contemporary creation from the 1960s to the present day, a fun and informative walk through the caprices of contemporary artists!
