About this activity
HIGHLIGHTS
• Walk the steps of Hemingway and his friends that have engraved Montparnasse with their fame
• Learn why Paris has been the cradle of the Roaring Twenties!
• Enjoy a playful 2,5-hour walking tour in a small group of 6 people max
• Have a complimentary drink in a famous “brasserie” to feel like at the heyday of Montparnasse.
You will learn about the tragic love story of Modigliani and his last muse Jeanne (handkerchief mandatory!) and about a few other Montparnos (Montparnasse crazy night owls): the Japanese painter Fujita, the French novelist Aragon and his Russian beloved Elsa, the Italian canteen keeper “Mama Rosalia”.
This feverish and colorful atmosphere hid unfortunate and successful stories alike. You’ll also hear about a Picasso’s forgotten French muse, the Bulgarian painter Julius Pascin. And last but not least, you’ll gather a lot about the famous Hemingway when he was penniless and an unknown writer!
At the end of your tour, you will do like the Montparnos 100 years earlier: Have a drink at the café Hemingway featured in “The Sun also rises”. This moment will revive the flavor of those crazy years, when living, creating or dying were experienced with the same frenzy…
