About this activity
When on your way here, keep an eye out for the Big Rock . This is a 65m-tall artificial mini-mountain, which is an iconic symbol of the Paris Zoological Park. Catching a glimpse of it means you're nearing an encounter with wild animals - including giraffes, rhinos, ring-tailed lemurs, seals and young lions. A day here puts you right into the heart of an animal-centric adventure. Don't forget your camera and pith helmet.
Formerly known as the Bois de Vincennes Zoological Park , the Zoological Park of Paris recently underwent two years of refurbishment works. All animal habitats have been grouped into five 'biozones.' So as you travel through the park, you'll be going from Europe to Madagascar, and the Sudan to Patagonia. Oh yeah, there's also an Amazon zone (Amazone?).
In the Sudan you can expect sightings of lions, giraffes and zebras (in the same biozone, but unluckily for the lions, not in the same enclosure). Europe has wolves, lynxes, otters, The Amazone has jaguars, monkeys and macaws, Patagonia has penguins, pumas and pudus (and other animals whose names don't begin with 'p'). So. Many. Animals.
And these are just some of the zones and a few of the animals. There are also birds, lizards, snakes, tarantulas, frogs, fish, mammals big and small... Let's just say that if you're an animal lover, zoo'll find plenty here to put a smile on your face.
