St Maarten Kayak and Snorkel Adventure in Simpson Bay

2h30
About this activity
Meet the tour guide at Kim Sha Beach and start the tour with a quick lesson about safety and paddling technique.

Then, with your group, paddle out through Simpson Bay, passing the moored boats along the way. If weather permits, paddle out into the ocean and around Pelican Rocks to reach the next bay. The pace is leisurely, allowing for time to enjoy the view of the neighboring islands and the birds resting on the rocks. Upon reaching the destination, beach the kayaks and get ready for some snorkeling.

After trying out the included snorkeling equipment, swim out to explore the rocky caverns and corals filled with parrot fish, angelfish, trumpet fish, needle nose, tang, and a variety of other creatures. The guides lead the way and snorkel, too, helping to point out fish that might have been missed otherwise.

After approximately 45 minutes of underwater exploration, head back to the kayaks for the return paddle to Kim Sha Beach, followed by an ice cold refreshment at the Greenhouse Restaurant and a discussion on the fish that were discovered during the swim.

Note: Sit-on-top, double kayaks are used for this tour. There are a limited amount of single kayaks available, which are reserved for the guides or if there is an odd amount of people.
