Day 1: take a full day tour in Phnom Penh to all the must-see sites.
• Royal Palace: a complex of buildings which serves as the royal residence of the king of Cambodia.
• Visit the silver pagoda
• Visit Wat Phnom, the tallest religious structure in the city.
• S21 was a former high school called “Tuol Svay Prey High School” situated on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. During the Khmer Rouge regime, this high school was renamed as S21 and turned it into a torture, interrogation and execution center.
• The Killing Fields, "Choeung Ek Genocidal Museum" was a former peaceful village where it was turned into the infamous Killing fields by the Khmer Rouge. The Pol Pot regime beat people in the thousands without mercy and buried them in mass graves. No matter how much you have read or been told about the Khmer Rouge cruelty and the number of people killed, you shall understand the full process of how the tens of thousands prisoners were executed here.
Day 2: Transfer to
Siem Reap by private air-conditioned vehicle with your private tour guide. The drive normally takes 6 hours, but take a break whenever you please. Arriving in Siem Reap, check into the hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 3: Start a day temple-hopping with your private tour guide. First take an extensive visit to
Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. Having spent at Angkor Wat approximately 2 hours, back in the car, and continue to
Angkor Thom complex, comprising of
Bayon and Terrace of the Elephant. Discover
Tomb Raider temple/ Ta Prohm temple after having lunch at the local restaurant.
Day 4: Today is ideal as your morning is to be spent on a boat trip to the real Khmer villages, known as "
Kampong Phluk", living on the surface for water on the great lakeside. In the afternoon, visit
Artisan Angkor workshop, where craft is made.
