We'll ride along the Eastbank Esplanade, with views of the Willamette River, to begin our tour.
Pass By: Steel Bridge, Connects Northwest Front Avenue and Northwest Flanders Street to Northeast Williams Avenue, Portland, OR 97209
Crossing the Steel Bridge into downtown is a highlight of our meditative garden bike tour.
Stop At: Tanner Springs Park, 1100 NW 10th Ave, Portland, OR 97209-3472
We'll ride into the Pearl District and stop at Tanner Springs Park, where your guide will introduce you to the complications and conflicts of urban parks and gardens; and the many-layered story of this park and the neighborhood where it resides.

At the Lan Su Garden, we'll explore the reasons the garden was placed here in this neighborhood in Portland; we'll describe the philosophies and poetry of the garden, and experience some of its meditative aspects, as well as working to understand the garden synesthetically.

In the Chinese Garden, we'll visit the tea house for a pot of Chinese tea.

We'll ride up into Washington Park (or take the MAX train to avoid the hill)

At the Japanese Garden, we'll explore the approach from a different sister city, and a different (and much younger) culture to garden design, and how we achieve meditative states, or zen. We'll walk through the garden and give tour guests a little time to meditate on their own.
