Aveiro and Coimbra - a Full day historical Tour

- This tour starts at 09:00am and we set off towards Aveiro;
- Once in Aveiro, we`ll appreciate the beautiful train station which will help us to understand the city`s history;
- Afterwards, it`s time for a walk through the old quarter of the city, see the main emblematic buildings and taste one of the delicacies of the city: sweet eggs;
- Boat trip through the canals on a traditional “moliceiro” boat including historical explanation about its importance for the history of the city;
- The trip continues onto Costa Nova: the magnificent fishing village with its wooden houses in bright striped colours;
- Time to leave Aveiro heading Coimbra for a traditional lunch;
- Once in Coimbra, we`ll cross the bridge of Santa Clara over Mondego river and appreciate Coimbra from the river banks;
- After lunch, we`ll walk across the narrow old town streets and visit the beautiful Santa Cruz church, where are the remains of the first King of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques;
- We`ll walk through the historical city center, pass through the Almedina Gate and Tower and meet the fantastic Old Cathedral of Coimbra;
- Once at Paço das Escolas (the University grounds), we`ll visit S. Miguel Chapel, the Royal Palace and the highlight of Coimbra University, UNESTO Heritage and one of the most valuable and beautiful libraries in the world: the Joanina Library – a baroque style stunning masterpiece!
-After a panoramic view of the city, from an amazing viewpoint, we`ll be able to visit the New Cathedral of Coimbra;
- return to your hotel in Porto.
