Make your own way to the Vertigo Bikes shop in central Queenstown, where you'll be matched with a suitable mountain bike and safety gear, and be transferred by shuttle to the mountain bike trails.

On arrival, set out on a self-guided tour and ride the trails made famous in mountain bike movies like 'Follow Me'. Options include the original Gold Miners Pack Trail, a thrilling 3-mile (5km) single track descent into Skippers Canyon, complete with rocky sections, steep drop-offs and stream crossings.

Follow this up with runs at 'Rude Rock' and the 'Zoot Trail', a fast and flowing track that gets better every run as you get comfortable with the sheer speed.

After three hours zooming down the trails, a shuttle will be waiting to take you back to Queenstown.
