Queenstown Mountain Guides only use professionally qualified mountain guides that specialise in rock climbing so you can be assured of the highest level of expertise & safety. Our experienced guides will set up the climbs and provide instruction as you climb.
The Queenstown climbing area offers a large variety of climbing styles and difficulties and there are climbing options for everyone from beginner through to advanced.
Departure: Your trip will depart at 8.30am from the bus stop on Camp St outside the Station Building in the centre of Queenstown. Please be ready for departure by 8.20am.
Trip Duration: Approximately 8 hours
Its a 20 minute drive to the climbing area. Once we arrive at the carpark we will organise our climbing equipment and then start the 20 minute walk up to the climbing area. This is a spectacular walk through beach forest and on the route we pass streams and waterfalls. Above the tree line we have spectacular views of the turquoise blue lake Wakatipu and the mountains of the southern lakes area.
Once the climbing area we will get the ropes set up and teach you how to correctly put on harnesses and helmets. After a lesson on how to belay a climber we will start the climbing. You can expect a full day with plenty of climbing with challenges and fun for everyone no matter what your level of experience or fitness.
