The northern lights can only be seen from very few places on earth respectively the Northernmost and the Southernmost hemisphere, in which Iceland is considered being the capital city of Northern Lights. Many people from all around the world travel to Iceland to experience this mysterious phenomenon that appears in many different colors such as green, red, purple, yellow and pink. We will begin the pickup at 20:30 from the hotel and it can take up to 30 min for the guide to arrive depending on the traffic. At around 21:00 the guide will be driving in the Icelandic country side and as we have our different spots both North, East, West and South of Reykjavik, the guide will have decided which spot to chose depending on the clouds, the temperature, the wind direction, wind speed, road condition and light pollution; all being important factors when it comes to chasing the northern lights. The tour usually takes around 3 to 4 hours. You will be dropped off at the bus stops or the hotels when the tour ends. As Iceland is an island situated only few miles from the polar circle and situated in the North Atlantic ocean between to big continents where the Golf Stream runs, the weather can become very unpredictable. It is always an advice to wear very warm clothes. -5 degrees Celsius can easily feel like -20 degrees Celsius due to windchill effects.
