About this activity
There’s so much more to experience in Iceland than just the stunning landscapes and magical Northern Lights. Our culture is also a major attraction - and a big part of that is our food. On this tour along the west coast of Iceland, you will get a real taste for our country. One of the things that Iceland is famous for is the number of sheep. But it’s not just sheep that we have. We are famous for our goat cheese too. At the Háafell Goat Farm you will get to try delicious goat cheese and learn all about the Icelandic goat. The tour continues to Brúarás Geocenter where you will have a delicious lunch, before going to the picturesque Hraunfossar waterfalls; a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming out of a lava field. Then it is time to visit Steðji micro-brewery for some beer tasting. Steðji Brewery is named after the rock formation that sits in front of the brewery in the shape of an anvil, so Steðji means ‘Anvil’. Our next stop on the Icelandic food tour, is at the Bjarteyjarsandur family farm to try out some local food. Here in Iceland, we are very proud of our heritage and culture, living off the land and making the most of the nature around us. That’s why this farm makes good use of the land, producing high quality products, that are produced in an environmentally sustainable way. On our way back to Reykjavík, we will drive around the beautiful Hvalfjörður (Whale Fjord). This tour combines some of the best aspects of Iceland, getting to try our delicious natural food and famous Icelandic beer. You aren’t just getting to see Iceland, you’re getting to experience it. With the knowledge, insight and hospitality from our locals, you won’t be just a ‘tourist’, you will be a welcome guest in our homeland - showing you the very essence of our culture.
