About this activity

The ancient and enormous icebergs breaking off from Vatnajökull glacier into Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon is a unique natural wonder and unforgettable experience to witness. The 1000-1500 year old ice silently drifts into the lake and slowly melts away and is a spectacular sight. The lagoon covers 18 square kilometers (7 square miles) and reaches more than 248 meters (814 ft) at its deepest point. Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon has also been the location for scenes in Batman Begins, Tomb Raider and two James Bond movies. There is also an option to add a boat tour on Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon if you want to explore the lagoon further.

On this day trip, you'll also discover the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. You can walk behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall, so make sure to pack a raincoat! Skógafoss waterfall, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the also starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail to Þórsmörk. The waterfall has been the setting for the films Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
