About this activity
Reykjavík is a city filled with fascinating culture, history and artistic creativity. There is so much to explore and places to see, so on this tour we will take you to the top attractions of Reykjavík and the must-see sites, making sure you do not miss out on anything. The old Höfði house stands in Reykjavík, and is one of the most significant buildings in Iceland’s history. In 1986, the summit between presidents Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbatsjov took place here. It’s not just the history that makes Höfði house interesting, it is also believed that the house is occupied by The White Lady, a ghost who haunts the halls! No matter your attraction to architecture, The Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre is a must-see building. It stands tall and bold against the sea and surrounding mountains, while it glistens in the sunlight, the coloured glass reflects the breathtaking design. It won an award in 2013 for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award. The Parliament House stands tall, representing it’s political importance, and the history of Iceland’s government. We will also take you to Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland. As you delve further into the historic buildings, you will get to marvel at the Hallgrímskirkja church and get the most spectacular 360° view over Reykjavík at the viewing platform at Perlan glass dome. Finally, to conclude after learning about the history and culture, there’s one more stop that you cannot miss. The Ölgerðin brewery. Journey through the history once more but this time learning about the ancient brewing in Iceland. It’s not just about learning - it’s also about tasting!! This is an award-winning craft brewery that you just have to experience! What better way to end the day?!
